Ericka received her Master of Occupational Therapy from Mount Mary University in 2018 and has since specialized in pediatrics. Her work focuses on targeting sensory, regulation, motor, musculoskeletal, and neurological conditions. She is passionate about helping families find solutions that allow their children to be able to participate in daily activities as independently as possible. She is currently certified in Astronaut Training and Therapeutic Listening. She has attended several handling courses and completed a handling intensive via neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT) for children with quadriplegic cerebral palsy.
She values continuing to further her knowledge of interventions to provide the best treatment to her patients and families. She is currently in the process of receiving her Craniosacral Certification. She has taken continuing education in pediatric visual impairments and developmental impact, self-regulation in children and the neurological connection, feeding, and impairments resulting in dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia. She obtained her certification as an AOTA fieldwork educator and has supervised fieldwork students for the past 4 years.
She believes in taking a collaborative approach to helping patients and families reach their goals. The reason she loves Occupational Therapy is because it enables others to complete functional daily activities that are important to them. Through play, children and families are able to increase their quality of life and help children and families participate in daily activities as independently as possible.
